Your day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Arrive on Mafia Island

  • Fly to Mafia’s Kilindoni airport on a separately quoted flight. Meet your driver and transfer to your lodge, normally in the Utende area for access to Chole Bay. Settle in and discuss tides with the team. Overnight: Mafia lodge. Meals: dinner.
Day 2

Chole Bay reef and island life

  • Join a guided snorkelling boat outing at a tide selected by your marine guide. After lunch, visit Chole with a local host when boat conditions allow. Respect residents’ privacy and ask before taking photographs. Overnight: Mafia lodge. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3

A quiet day on Mafia

  • Enjoy the lodge and coast at a relaxed pace. Certified divers may request a separately priced dive programme. A seasonal whale-shark outing can be quoted if operators report appropriate conditions, but sightings are never guaranteed. Overnight: Mafia lodge. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4

Return to Kilindoni airport

  • Breakfast and a road transfer to the airport for your separately quoted flight. Arrange flight-free time after any scuba diving according to your dive operator’s advice. Meals: breakfast. No overnight stay included tonight.
