Responsible Travel in Tanzania

Slow Down. See More. For Tartaruga Safaris, a thoughtful journey includes consideration for the people, wildlife and places that welcome us.
Wildlife first
Follow your guide’s instructions, keep the required distance from animals and remain in the vehicle unless your guide authorises a stop. Never encourage a sighting by feeding, chasing or surrounding wildlife. Give other vehicles room and keep voices low.
Community visits by invitation
A cultural visit is a conversation. Ask before photographing people, accept a refusal and avoid entering homes or working spaces uninvited. Let local hosts explain their own traditions. Buying a craft can be a personal choice without pressure.
Support education thoughtfully
Our proposed Msandaka programme is arranged with the school. Staff decide appropriate visiting times and needs. We encourage useful, requested supplies through the administration and protect children’s privacy. Donating does not create a right to photograph or meet individual children.
Travel with less waste
Bring a refillable bottle where safe treated water is available, keep litter in the vehicle until proper disposal and respect local rules about packaging. Ask accommodation staff before washing clothes or using limited water resources.
Choose what suits you
Tell us about your interests and comfort needs early. We can discuss a slower route, fewer accommodation moves and suitable activities. Responsible planning also means being clear about what is included and what still needs confirmation.
