Your 5-Day Journey

Day 1

Welcome to Tanzania — airport pickup

Our Tartaruga Safaris driver-guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and take you to your Arusha hotel. Settle into your room before a personal safari briefing. We will review your interests, dietary requirements and the following morning’s departure together. There is no scheduled game drive today, so you have time to recover from your flight. Keep essential medicines and a change of clothes in your hand luggage.
Overnight: Arusha. Meals: dinner.

Day 2

Lake Manyara — forest and lakeside wildlife

Spend the day exploring the varied habitats of Lake Manyara National Park with our driver-guide. Move from shady forest roads towards more open scenery as access allows. Watch for monkeys, grazing wildlife and birds, and ask your guide about the changing lake environment. Water levels influence which areas are accessible. Tree-climbing lions and flamingos are possibilities, never promised sightings. Take a picnic break before continuing.
Overnight: Karatu / Mto wa Mbu. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater — wildlife on the crater floor

Leave early with our driver-guide and descend into Ngorongoro Crater after completing the required formalities. Explore the floor’s habitats along authorised roads and enjoy a picnic at a designated location. Your guide will explain the landscape while watching for wildlife. Keep expectations open: even well-known animals are not guaranteed. After the permitted crater visit, ascend and continue to the overnight stop stated below.
Overnight: Karatu. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4

Tarangire — elephants, baobabs and river country

Explore Tarangire with your Tartaruga driver-guide, following park roads through woodland and open areas around the river system. We will pause for wildlife rather than rush between sightings. Elephants, grazing animals and birds may all feature, but the day’s discoveries depend on nature. Carry your binoculars and keep cameras ready. Enjoy a picnic break at an authorised site before continuing your afternoon drive.
Overnight: Karatu / Mto wa Mbu. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 5

Karatu / Mto wa Mbu — return transfer

After breakfast, travel from Karatu / Mto wa Mbu towards Arusha with our Tartaruga driver. Allow this day for the road transfer, with breaks along the way. An airport drop-off can be arranged only after the team checks the journey against your flight time. If a connection is too tight, add an Arusha night at extra cost. No game drive is scheduled during this return day.
Overnight: No overnight included. Meals: breakfast.

Is this a private or shared safari?
This is planned as a private safari with Tartaruga-arranged guiding. The displayed rate assumes six adults travelling together and sharing rooms. Couples, solo travellers and other group sizes receive a tailored quotation.
Which accommodation will we use?
The proposed level is Mid-range. We will name the actual properties or campsites, room types and locations in your written proposal. Availability, your dates and any family-room requirements must be checked before booking.
How demanding are the travel days?
Northern safari roads include dusty and uneven sections, and journeys into Serengeti can take much of a day. Your guide plans breaks. Let us know if you want fewer transfers or additional nights at one base.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
No. Our guide will help you explore suitable habitats, but animals move freely. Neither the Big Five nor any individual sighting is guaranteed. Patient observation is part of the safari experience.
Are domestic flights included?
This itinerary is planned overland and does not include domestic flights. We can quote a fly-in alternative or a beach extension separately.
What does the starting price mean?
The indicative starting price is USD 1,180 per person. The final quotation depends on dates, availability, party size and the exact services agreed.
What deposit is required?
The standard safari deposit is 20%, unless a different arrangement is agreed in writing. Your proposal will confirm the payment schedule and applicable booking terms before you pay.
Can you accommodate dietary or accessibility needs?
Tell us about dietary needs, allergies, mobility requirements and any equipment you use. We will check the specific vehicle, accommodation and activities with providers. Accessibility or halal arrangements are confirmed individually rather than assumed.
