Day 1

Changuu Island and a tide-timed sandbank picnic

  • Transfer to the Stone Town departure point and board your boat after a safety briefing. Explore Changuu, also called Prison Island, and observe its giant tortoises without handling or feeding them outside the site’s rules. Continue to Nakupenda when tides permit for a picnic lunch, swimming and beach time. The sandbank may be partly submerged or unavailable, so the skipper can reverse the order or adjust the visit. Return to Stone Town and your hotel before evening.
