Stay for the safari

Combine time on the course with wildlife viewing and a stay in the greater Serengeti landscape.

GOLF MEETS SAFARI

Make room for more than a round.

The 18-hole course at Fort Ikoma offers a new reason to explore the greater Serengeti. Tartaruga Safaris can help coordinate your preferred travel dates, accommodation, transfers and a golf enquiry as part of a wider journey.

Tee times and current playing arrangements must be reconfirmed before booking. Published launch reports have changed during 2026, and a safari quotation should state clearly whether golf is included.

GETTING THERE BY ROAD

Five starting points. One carefully planned journey.

Your exact lodge, road conditions and the clubhouse entrance determine the final transfer. The figures below are regional references; they are not verified distances to the first tee.

Your road journey can be arranged with a private safari vehicle and driver-guide.

From Mwanza

Regional reference: approximately 231 km to Fort Ikoma.

A route planner estimates about 4½ hours, while a golfer’s first-hand account describes roughly six hours via Bunda. Allow a generous transfer window. We confirm the final clubhouse route before quotation.

From Seronera

Nearby lodge reference: 45 km / about 1½ hours.

This is Seronera Airstrip to Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma, not the golf course. Access is via the Fort Ikoma area; we calculate the clubhouse transfer separately.

From Kogatende

Road distance and driving time: to be confirmed.

Send your camp name and travel date. A northern Serengeti transfer depends on the selected road, gate access and current conditions, so it should not be treated as a short detour without checking.

From Grumeti

Your exact departure point matters.

Grumeti may mean an airstrip, a lodge or the wider reserve and western Serengeti area. We need the specific location before confirming kilometres and transfer time.

From Arusha

Nearby lodge reference: 340 km / about seven driving hours.

Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma publishes this estimate from Arusha Airport to its lodge. It is not a measured clubhouse transfer and excludes a leisurely safari programme. A multi-day safari or a flight may suit your itinerary better.

GETTING THERE BY AIR

Fly into the landscape.

Fort Ikoma Airstrip is an arrival option to investigate for golf. A pre-arranged road transfer is still required. We confirm the airstrip, accommodation and course location together.

Mwanza or Kogatende?

We have not confirmed a convenient direct scheduled flight from either point to Fort Ikoma. Request a dated connection or charter quote before planning around one.

Tell us if you will carry golf clubs: airline baggage limits and golf-equipment carriage need confirmation before ticketing.
