Access, seasons and preparation
Most journeys begin with an equipment check in Moshi and a vehicle transfer to the appropriate park gate. The number in each title is the number of mountain days; arrival nights, airport transfers and onward travel are additional unless the quotation includes them. January–February and June–October are popular climbing periods, but upper-mountain wind, freezing temperatures and snowfall can occur at any time. Longer itineraries usually provide more time to acclimatise; no route guarantees a summit.
