What Happens After You Book

Your safari starts with careful preparation. Once you decide to travel with Tartaruga Safaris, we keep the agreed itinerary, accommodation and practical arrangements clear so you know what happens next.

1. Review your written itinerary

Check the travel dates, names, number of guests, room arrangements, destinations, activities, meals and transfers. Your quotation identifies the included services and anything paid separately. Tell us about changes before accepting the proposal.

2. Confirm availability and your deposit

We check the selected services and explain the payment arrangements in writing. Follow the schedule on your confirmed booking and invoice. The usual safari deposit is 20%; climbing bookings or specially agreed arrangements may have a different initial payment. Payment and cancellation details are set out in our booking and payment guide and booking terms.

3. Receive your booking confirmation

We confirm the agreed services and explain any items still awaiting supplier confirmation. Keep your itinerary, payment receipt and booking reference together. If a proposed lodge or activity cannot be secured, we discuss the available alternative and its cost before confirming the change.

4. Share the details that help us prepare

Send your arrival and departure flight information, children’s ages, dietary requirements, room preferences and any mobility or equipment needs. We explain which personal details a supplier needs and the appropriate way to provide them. Notify us when flight times change.

5. Prepare for your journey

We help you choose the relevant packing and preparation information for a safari, climb or beach stay. Check current entry requirements with the official authorities and discuss personal health questions with your healthcare professional. Keep your insurance contact details available and check that your planned activities are covered.

6. Confirm your arrival meeting point

Before travelling, check the meeting point and the contact number on your arrival instructions. Where your package includes an airport transfer, our driver-guide or transfer representative meets you as agreed and takes you to your first accommodation. If you are delayed or cannot find the representative, contact our team on +255 667 767 553.

7. Meet your guide and begin

Your guide talks through the programme, departure times and practical arrangements. Ask about the vehicle, wildlife viewing, comfort stops and the day’s plan. We want you to understand the journey and have time to enjoy it: Slow Down. See More.

8. Stay in touch during your trip

Raise a concern promptly with your guide or our office so we can help while you are travelling. Weather, wildlife movements and local conditions can affect the day’s order. We explain any necessary adjustment and discuss changes to booked services with you.

9. Depart and share your experience

We reconfirm the departure transfer included in your programme. After your journey, we welcome honest feedback about your guide, vehicle, accommodation and overall experience. Guest photographs and stories are shared publicly only with permission.
