Mkomazi National Park Safari Guide

Explore a quieter part of northern Tanzania with Tartaruga Safaris. Mkomazi can fit into a journey from Moshi or a longer route towards the coast.

Rhino browsing in Mkomazi National Park — Tartaruga Safaris

Why include Mkomazi

The park offers dry-country scenery and a different atmosphere from the busier northern safari route. Give your driver-guide time to explore permitted roads and explain the landscape. Wildlife sightings vary, and a visit should not be sold as a guaranteed checklist.

Rhino conservation visits

Mkomazi is associated with black-rhino conservation. Access to a rhino experience must be specifically reserved and costed where available. It is not automatically included in ordinary park entry. We reconfirm the programme, vehicle arrangements, rules and any age requirements for your dates.

Day trip or overnight

A day trip is most practical from a suitably located Moshi-area hotel with an early start. If you are starting in Arusha, or want more time in the park, consider an overnight arrangement. We check the gate, camp and return plan before promising a departure time.

Where to stay

Babu’s Camp is a tented option inside Mkomazi. It is described by suppliers as a small camp with furnished tents and private bathrooms. Current operating dates, power arrangements and facilities need confirmation. Town-based alternatives around Same can be considered after checking a named property.

Bring the essentials

Carry drinking water, sun protection, binoculars and clothing for dust and changing temperatures. Allow for limited connectivity. Your quotation will separate park entry, any specialist activity, transport and accommodation.
