Herd of zebras on a grassy plain — Tartaruga Safaris

Slow Down. See More. Together.

Share Tanzania with the people who matter most on this private seven-day family safari. Begin with Tarangire, spend three nights in the Serengeti and finish with Ngorongoro Crater. Your Tartaruga Safaris driver-guide will help your family discover wildlife at a thoughtful pace, with picnic stops and opportunities to rest.

This journey includes seven days and six nights, beginning with airport arrival and ending in Arusha. It balances two full Serengeti days with the transfers needed to connect the northern circuit. Some travel days are long; we will discuss these openly and adapt the plan to your children’s ages.

Your journey at a glance

Kilimanjaro Airport → Arusha → Tarangire → Karatu → Central Serengeti (3 nights) → Ngorongoro highlands → Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha.

Starting price

From USD 2,296 per person for the mid-range option, based on six adults travelling together and sharing rooms. This is an indicative starting estimate; your final quotation depends on travel dates, accommodation availability, room arrangements and children’s ages. Smaller groups and accommodation upgrades are quoted separately.

Stay your way

Choose a mid-range, luxury or high-end version. Our team will propose named lodges and camps after checking your dates, preferred category and family-room availability. A budget camping version can be designed separately. Your written quote will show prices per person and the total family cost.

Designed around your family

A private vehicle gives you time to pause when an interesting sighting appears. Discuss shorter outings, meal preferences, room sharing and any mobility needs before booking. Your guide’s knowledge brings each day to life, while your itinerary leaves room to enjoy camp as well as the wildlife.

Family Safari Questions

  • Is this a private safari?

Yes. Your safari vehicle and Tartaruga Safaris driver-guide are reserved for your family. We confirm your departure dates and room arrangements before booking.

  • Is the itinerary suitable for young children?

Tell us every child’s age so we can review driving days, meal times, room layouts and vehicle arrangements with you. The journey from Karatu to Serengeti is a long transfer day. If your family prefers less time on the road, ask us to quote an extra night or a suitable fly-in alternative.

  • Are children free?

Our child policy offers free travel for children aged 0–4. Please provide their ages and room-sharing arrangements so your written quotation clearly confirms the applicable inclusions. Older children are quoted individually.

  • Will we see the Great Migration or the Big Five?

Wildlife sightings and river crossings cannot be guaranteed. This itinerary focuses on central Serengeti. Tell us if migration viewing is your priority so we can discuss seasonal areas and adjust the route and quotation.

  • Which hotels and camps will we stay in?

The itinerary includes one night in Arusha, one in Karatu, three in central Serengeti and one in the Ngorongoro highlands or Karatu. We propose named lodges and camps for your preferred accommodation level and confirm family-room availability before booking.

  • How much does the safari cost, and what deposit is required?

We quote in USD per person and show the total family cost, based on your dates, group composition and accommodation choice. The standard safari deposit is 20%, unless another arrangement is agreed in writing. Your quotation will state the balance-payment schedule.

  • Can we change the itinerary or add Zanzibar?

Yes. We can adapt the safari length, pace and accommodation, or add a Zanzibar stay, cultural visit or another destination. Tell us your priorities before booking so we can explain the extra travel time and provide an updated quotation.

  • Can you cater for dietary needs and food allergies?

Tell us about vegetarian, vegan, halal or other dietary needs when you enquire. For allergies, please explain the specific ingredients and requirements. We will check arrangements with the selected accommodation providers and confirm what they can accommodate before booking.

  • What should our family bring?

Bring comfortable clothing for warm days, a warm layer for cooler mornings, walking shoes, sun hats, sunscreen, reusable water bottles and any personal medicines. Children may enjoy binoculars, a wildlife notebook and something quiet for longer transfers. Keep essential documents and medicines in your hand luggage.

  • How do we enquire or book this safari?

Use the Booking Now button or the Enquiry tab, email info@tartarugasafaris.com, or WhatsApp +255 667 767 553. Send your dates, number of adults, children’s ages, preferred accommodation category and any special requirements. Our team will prepare a personalised proposal; an enquiry alone does not confirm a booking.

We use your details to respond and plan your requested trip. Please do not include passport scans, card details or medical diagnoses. Privacy Policy.
