Tanzania’s northern circuit links the country’s best-known safari landscapes with the Arusha and Kilimanjaro gateways. It is a practical first journey because major parks, established lodges and experienced guiding services connect along well-used routes.
The main journey crosses Arusha and Manyara regions into the Serengeti landscape in Mara and Simiyu, with mountain and northeastern extensions in Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions. The classic core is Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara. Arusha National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park, Mkomazi, Lake Natron and Lake Eyasi offer different extensions.
Its tourism importance comes from the combination of internationally known wildlife, the Great Migration, Ngorongoro’s crater scenery, Kilimanjaro and strong access through Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Parks can be combined over a manageable road itinerary, with flight options for more distant areas. Choose enough nights for the actual geography rather than trying to visit every park at once.
